Important Travel Advice

With thousands of fans expected at the annual Test Match, ticketholders are urged to plan their trip and consider all the available travel options ahead of time. Match tickets include travel on all public transport so leave the car at home.

Public transport is the best way to get to the SCG with frequent light rail services running to Moore Park from the city and south east. Plenty of regular route buses also make stops near the precinct.

Trains to the city run regularly where you can connect with frequent light rail services to Moore Park from the city or south east. The Moore Park light rail stop is located a short walk across from the stadium. 

Please note that trackwork is taking place on the weekend on the Metro North West Line, T9 Northern Line and part of the T1 North Shore Line. Trackwork is also underway on the T3 Bankstown Line during all days of the test match. If you're travelling from these areas plan your trip and allow extra travel time. 

Make a day of it and arrive early to enjoy the many local venues around the precinct. Consider walking between Central and Moore Park via Foveaux Street or Devonshire Street and the Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter Walkway. See our Moore Park walking route map (pdf 435KB) to find your way.

Traffic in the area is expected to be busier than usual and parking will be in high demand, particularly on Days 1-3 of the Test match. Allow plenty of extra travel time. You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

If you have to drive, travel with your group, plan ahead and allow plenty of extra travel time. Parking is available near the SCG at the Entertainment Quarter car park, EP2 (days 1-3 only) and EP3 grass car park on Driver Avenue, and Sydney Boys & Girls High car park off Cleveland Street. A flat rate event parking fee will apply.

Match ticket entitlements

Valid pre-purchased tickets to the Test Match Cricket on Wednesday 3 to Sunday 7 January (inclusive) at the Sydney Cricket Ground includes travel on the following transport services – just show your event ticket to transport staff when boarding:

  • Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services (non-booked services bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations)
  • Sydney metropolitan and outer metropolitan buses
  • Sydney Metro North West services
  • Sydney and Newcastle Light Rail services
  • Sydney and Newcastle Ferries

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your match ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day.

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.

Transport Park&Ride Car Parks

Park for free when you catch public transport. Transport Park&Ride provides up to 18 hours of free parking each day. All you have to do is complete a public transport trip. Located close to public transport hubs, Park&Ride car parks help you connect more easily to train, bus and ferry services.

Tickets to the Test Match Cricket include travel on transport and free Park&Ride parking. When leaving the car park use the intercom button at the exit gate to speak with the operator and show your event ticket.

If you use a Transport Connect account to access Park&Ride, the boom gate will automatically open as you leave the car park so you’ll need to request a refund in your account.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.

Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping to connect with trains to the city to connect with light rail to Moore Park.

Trackwork is taking place on the weekend, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January, with buses replacing all metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood. Trackwork is also taking place on the T9 Northern Line between Hornsby and Strathfield. Catch buses to Chatswood to connect with trains to the city.

The closest stations to the SCG are Central and Bondi Junction.

From Central catch a light rail service to Moore Park leaving from Chalmers Street.

From Bondi Junction catch one of the many regular route buses from the Interchange to Oxford St to get within walking distance of the stadium.

Weeknight – Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 January

  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line. On Wednesday and Thursday, extra trains run between Ashfield and the City.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe, Cabramatta and Sydenham. Trains run between Sydenham and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable. On Friday, trains run between Sydenham and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable.
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line. Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains start and end at Granville. You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line.

Weekend – 2am Saturday 6 January to 2am Monday 8 January

  • Metro North West Line: Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood. Buses also replace T9 Northern Line trains between Hornsby and Strathfield. Change at Chatswood for trains to the City.
  • T1 North Shore Line: Buses replace trains between Berowra and Gordon. Trains run between Gordon and the City, to a changed timetable. Buses also replace T9 Northern Line trains between Hornsby and Strathfield.
  • T1 Western Line: Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park, making extra stops at Harris Park and Granville. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City. Penrith trains make an extra stop at Burwood. On Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Leppington.
  • T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line. Inner West trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, stopping at all stations between Liverpool and Lidcombe, then running between Homebush and the City, some to a changed timetable. Western Line trains make an extra stop at Burwood.
  • T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham. Trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park. T4 Illawarra Line trains run between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville. Daily from 8am to 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.
  • T5 Cumberland Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line.
  • T8 Airport & South Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line. From 8.40am to 3pm, buses replace the all-stations trains between Wolli Creek and Revesby. Express trains continue to run but will not stop at stations between Padstow and Turrella. On Sunday from 9am to 3pm, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Revesby and Turrella
  • T9 Northern Line: Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield. Buses also replace T1 North Shore Line trains between Berowra and Gordon, and metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood. Trains run to a changed timetable between Strathfield and the City.
  • Central Coast & Newcastle Line: Buses replace trains between Wyong and Gordon. T1 North Shore Line trains run to a changed timetable between Gordon and the City. Buses replace T9 Northern Line trains between Hornsby and Strathfield. 
  • South Coast Line: On Saturday from 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong, and between Dapto and Waterfall. Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable. On Sunday from 2.30am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong. Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable.  The 02:39 Kiama to Bondi Junction service will run up to 19 minutes earlier than the normal timetable from Kiama to Coniston, then run to the normal timetable from Wollongong to Bondi Junction.

A number of regular Sydney Buses services stop along Anzac Parade near the precinct, including routes 339 and 374. From Bondi Junction Interchange, catch routes 333, 352 or 440 to Oxford Street or catch route 355 buses to Lang Road which is within short walking distance of the stadium.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill light rail services run between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill from 6am to 11pm daily, and until midnight on Fridays. Use the Trip Planner to plan your trip.

From Central change for light rail service on the L2 or L3 Line to Moore Park leaving from Chalmers Street.  

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily, plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Catch L2 or L3 light rail services to Moore Park. The Moore Park stop is located along Anzac Parade, just south of the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Additional light rail services will run throughout the Test Match to get you there and home again.

Keep in mind that services will be busy, allow extra time, be patient and follow directions of staff on site. Consider walking between Moore Park and Central if queues are long, see our Moore Park walking route map (pdf 435KB) to find your way.

If you have to driving, travel with your group and allow extra time as traffic will be heavier than usual in the area, particularly on days one to three. 

Fans are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport to avoid traffic delays.Travel on transport is included in match tickets.

Road Closures

Days 1 to 3 - Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 January

  • Driver Avenue will be partially closed outside the stadium from 6:30am Wednesday 3 January until 5:30pm Friday 5 January.
  • No through-traffic will be available on Driver Avenue, however access to EP2 grass car park will be maintained via Moore Park Road and access to EP3 grass car park and drop-off areas will be maintained from Lang Road.

Days 4 to 5  - Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January (subject to match results)

  • Driver Avenue will be partially closed outside the stadium from 8:30am each day and will reopen wehn crowds have left the area after end of play.
  • No through-traffic will be available on Driver Avenue, however access to EP3 grass car park and drop-off areas will be maintained from Lang Road.
  • EP2 car park will not open on day 4 and 5.

To support the Moore Park Road pop up cycleway, there is no left-turn permitted from Lang Road onto Moore Park Road westbound. Motorists can use Cook Road for access onto Moore Park Road instead.

The closest taxi rank is located on Errol Flynn Boulevard (near the Hordern Pavilion).

If you’re using rideshare to get to and from the game, use Errol Flynn Boulevard or Driver Avenue for the drop off locations. After the game, roads in the immediate area of the stadium are expected to be busy so consider a pick up location outside of the precinct.

Moore Park Car Parks

Parking on-site is very limited and will fill quickly. Ticketholders are urged to leave the car at home and catch public transport – tickets include travel on public transport.

  • Entertainment Quarter (parking rates apply): Open 24 hours. Entry via Errol Flynn Boulevard from Lang Road.  
  • Kippax Park (EP2) grass car park (limited capacity due to upgrade works):
    • Entry via the northern end of Driver Avenue from Moore Park Road
    • Days 1-3: open from 7:30am
    • Days 4-5: car park not open
  • Showground Field (EP3) grass car park (cashless, flat rate parking fees apply): 
    • Entry via the southern end of Driver Avenue, from Lang Road. 
    • Days 1-3: open from 7.30am
    • Days 4-5: open from 7.30am
  • Sydney Boys High School and Sydney Girls High School (parking fees apply): Car Park open from around 7.30am days 1-5. Entry via Cleveland Street. Use the Anzac Parade pedestrian bridge to get to and from the SCG.

Special Event Clearways

Special event clearways will be in place on roads in Moore Park and surrounding areas, including on sections of Lang Road, Fitzroy Street, Moore Park Road, Albion Street, Cleveland Street, Flinders Street and Foveaux Street at the following times:

  • 6am to 7pm – Wednesday 3, Thursday 4 and Friday 5 January
  • 7am to 7pm – Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and TfNSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.
