Important Event Information
Large crowds are expected to attend Field Day at The Domain.
The best way to get to the event is by public transport. Trains, buses, ferries and light rail services all get you within close walking distance of The Domain, at Town Hall, QVB, St James, Martin Place and Circular Quay. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.
Changed traffic conditions and road closures will be in place around The Domain to allow crowds to safely leave the venue, allow extra travel time to continue on foot from the precinct if you are catching rideshare or taxis home from the event.

Opal
You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.
Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.
Metro services start from the early morning running every 10 minutes until late. Change at Epping to connect with train services towards the city.

Trackwork
Trackwork is taking place on Monday 1 January on the following lines. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner:
- T2 Inner West & Leppington Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line. From 10am Sunday to 6am Monday, Inner West trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, stopping at all stations between Liverpool and Lidcombe, then running between Homebush and the City.
- T3 Bankstown Line: Buses replace trains between Lidcombe, Cabramatta and Sydenham. Trains run between Sydenham and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable. From 10am Sunday to 6am Monday, special New Years Eve trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park. Buses continue to replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham. Trackwork continues on parts of the T3 Bankstown Line until 25 January.
- T5 Cumberland Line: Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line. From 11:50pm to 1:30am, some trains from Richmond to Leppington will instead run to Granville, then continue to Olympic Park. You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey. Trains continue to run from Leppington to Richmond, in that direction only.
- T8 Airport & South Line: Some trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork on the T3 Bankstown Line.

Plenty of regular route buses run to the City making stops along Elizabeth Street at St James and Martin Place, which are within walking distance of The Domain. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

Ferries run regularly to Circular Quay where you can connect with trains or light rail to Town Hall to get within short waking distance of The Domain.
Sydney Ferries services are very popular and may reach capacity so have alternative transport options in mind.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line
L1 Dulwich Hill light rail services run between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill from 6am to 11pm daily, and until midnight on Fridays. Use the Trip Planner to plan your trip.
From Central connect with trains or change for a L2 or L3 light rail services to Town Hall to get within walking distance of the Domain.
L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and the L3 Kingsford line services run between Circular Quay and Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am, plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
The closest stops to the Domain are Town Hall and QVB on the L2 and L3 lines which are both within short walking distance.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching The Domain in the Sydney CBD. If you’re driving or catching rideshare and taxis allow extra travel time.
Road Closures
Art Gallery Road will be closed to incoming traffic from 7pm.
After the concert, roads around The Domain will also be closed from 10pm until crowds have safely cleared the area:
- Art Gallery Road from Hospital Road to Mrs Macquarie’s Road
- St Mary’s Road from Prince Albert Road to Sir John Young Crescent
- Prince Albert Road from Macquarie Street to Art Gallery Road
- Hospital Road from Art Gallery Road to Shakespeare Place
- Macquarie Street from Hunter Street to Prince Albert Road
- St James Road from Elizabeth Street to Macquarie Street
- College Street from Park Street to Prince Albert Road
- Cathedral Street at St Marys Road

Parking in the area is limited and is expected to reach capacity early. Consider using public transport to get to the event.

Street parking is limited, check signs carefully before parking as vehicles left in special event clearways will be towed and a fee applies.
